Gastronomic Week 2010

April sees the premiere for Gastronomic Week in Stockholm. The initiative comes from the GastroNord and Vinordic fairs, which want to raise the profile of Stockholm and Swedish gastronomy internationally and attract more visitors to Stockholm International Fairs. That’s why the fairs are now stepping out onto the streets of Stockholm during the fair week beginning 19 April.

Gastronomic Week is open to both professional visitors and individuals with a shared interest in gastronomy. The week will focus on food and drink in all its forms, but also on related areas and experiences to do with food. The public will be invited to join in a week filled with events and activities around the city.

“This is a long-term investment and we believe this combined venture during the week beginning 19 April will benefit everyone who has anything to do with the industry. As far as we’re concerned it’s important that our visitors have an optimal experience of their visit, both inside and outside the fair venue,” says Göran Ekberg, Project Manager, GastroNord and Vinordic.

At the debut of Gastronomic Week, the fair will be inviting some twenty restaurants, bars, hotels, patisseries and galleries to take part.

“The idea is for each participant to be able to present something special during Gastronomic Week; perhaps a theme during the week, special tasting menus, visiting chefs, exhibitions. In other words, you can make of it what you will,” explains Göran Ekberg.

GastroNord, 20-23 April, is the biggest trade fair in northern Europe for the hotel, restaurant, catering and fast food trade. Vinordic, 21-24 April, is the leading drinks fair in northern Europe. The fair is a trade fair, but it is open to the public for the final two days.
